Switch to gas home heating and get a grant towards the cost. Everyone is entitled to the standard level of grant funding, however, there are higher grants available for anyone aged 70 or over or anyone in receipt of defined benefits. The gas network doesn't cover all areas of the UK so LPG or oil central heating system may be another option.

If you receive certain benefits you may be eligible for a Warm Front Grant towards a package of insulation and heating improvements.

Even if you do not qualify for a Warm Front Grant, because you do not receive a relevent benefit, you may still be eligible for a £300 rebate.

The £300 rebate is available to all householders aged 60 or over who own their own home or rent it from a landlord, who either have no central heating system or have one which is inoperable.
